Comprehensive Plan

The Town of Greenburgh has initiated a planning and public participation process to develop a Comprehensive Plan. Through a combination of technical analyses and community input, the Plan will identify goals, objectives and strategies to address a variety of issues, including economic development, housing, community character, land uses, natural and historical resources, community facilities and services, Infrastructure and transportation. The Comprehensive Plan will provide a framework to guide long-range policy decision-making affecting growth and development in the Town.

The Consultant Team selected by the Town to carry out this planning effort includes: Ferrandino & Associates Inc. (project lead), Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers, Fitzgerald & Halliday, Inc., Fairweather Consulting and Steven Tilly, Architect.

LEGAL

  • New York State zoning enabling statues require that zoning laws be adopted in accordance with a comprehensive plan
  • Provides the backbone for local land use regulations and zoning (Town Law §272-a)
  • Examines a wide range of topics and includes a balanced approach to analyzing issues and needs of the community

PRACTICAL

  • Provide a process for community input and consensus-building
    • Engage stakeholders to build a shared understanding of interrelated issues and obtain broad community support
  • Identify a framework to guide policy decision-making (to protect/enhance growth)
